Envorem in Oman and the UK, a budding partnership

Envorem in Oman dates back to 2019 when we held our pilot project with Petroleum Development Oman, the Oman National Oil Company, creating a prototype system to treat sludge and oil-contaminated soil. Unfortunately, this had to be put on hold during the pandemic, but the project is now fully back on track, having just been awarded significant investment.

Since then, Envorem has been confirmed as an approved supplier to the oil and gas industry in Oman. This enables us to do business in the Sultanate via their Joint Supplier Registration System. (JSRS) We were also part of the UK Pavilion at Oman Sustainability Week in March 2022.

Celebrating Envorem in Oman

Envorem in Oman comprises of a workshop in Muscat provided by our local partner, Ray International, where several of our Omani personnel work alongside visiting UK-based personnel. One of these is Dashe Iluyemi who grew up in Oman and now works for Envorem in the UK. You can read how he came to join the company and his passion for a greener future where nature and oil companies co-exist.

RAY International Group is a dynamic and aspiring business corporation with interests in Energy & Technology, Engineering & Construction, Well & Wireline Services, Professional Training & Skill Development, Logistics and Insurance Services. Established in 2005 in Oman, it is one of the largest and respected business houses in the Sultanate, with six overseas branches in Thailand, UK, Brunei, Bahrain, UAE & Saudi Arabia.

Hassin Al-Marhooqi, a senior member of the Marhooqi family that own Ray said: “We are delighted to be working with Envorem, it brings together two passions for Ray, Innovation and the Environment”.

Oman Sustainability Week

In March, Envorem were pleased to join other British companies on the British Pavilion at Oman Sustainability Week. These included: Anua Clear Air UK; CSG Valves; Genesys-PWT and Scanprobe Techniques. See the Oman Sustainability Week programme published by the Department for International Trade.

We appreciate how much the British government supports the development of Envorem’s environmental technology and there are indications UK Export funds could be  available to facilitate a clean-up programmes in Oman.

A highlight of our time at the Oman Convention & Exhibition Center was when the Crown Prince visited the stand opposite us to witness the signing of a contract. This took place one evening when the exhibition stayed open late. Things were really quiet that night, so and we nearly left early. That would have been a missed opportunity!

When Crown Prince, His Excellency Theyazin bin Haitham Al Said arrived, there were about 20 people in his entourage all dressed in ceremonial robes. Of course, we had our promotional video playing, which caught the attention of one particular gentleman. He was watching out of the corner of his eye, and then asked our MD, Mark Batt-Rawden, if he could tell him a bit more about the company.

The man was genuinely interested and told Mark he would like to meet up. When asked for his business card, he gestured to his ceremonial robes, obviously without pockets. “Just google me,” the Omani leader said, “and write”. He turned out to be His Excellency Dr Abdullah Ali al Amri, Chairman of the Oman Environment Ministry!

And so, contact was made and a meeting followed.. “I really like what you are doing,” he told us. “I’m going to write to the oil majors operating in Oman and suggest they pilot your technology.”

So, our time at the Oman Sustainability Conference was really successful, generating new leads and capturing one highly significant chance meeting that almost didn’t happen!

We value our international partnership stretching from the UK to the Middle East and beyond, in our quest to serve corporations with the latest developments in oil remediation solutions, starting with Envorem in Oman. From there, the oil sludges of the world await.
